Casa Oaxaca

After work on Friday is one of my favorite times for fun drinks and good eats. The work week is over, so there is a cause for celebration, and it is just so much easier to start drinking than go home, change, and kill a couple hours to go out at the proper going out time. After reading some pretty positive reviews, I was anxious this Friday to try Casa Oaxaca in Adams Morgan.

After a couple of after-work cocktails, I headed over to 18th and Florida with a couple of the work girls to what we would soon learn is a Washington DC gem. It literally combined every aspect that I consider important in a restaurant: good food, great drinks, lively atmosphere, good service, and a fun crowd. It was also such an extreme opposite to all the places opening up in Penn Quarter. Think East Village restaurant rather than some of the newly opened sterile restaurants in the ground floor of an office building.

The sangria is a must. The mole shines. The skirt steak tacos are bursting with flavor. I can see myself returning again and again with my girlfriends and for a great date night.
